Nelson Delgado is the Chief Security Officer. Delgado is responsible for crisis and security response management throughout the Department of Law and Public Safety. Prior to joining the Office of the Attorney General, Delgado served a long career with the FBI, most recently serving as the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Newark Field Office. Delgado possesses significant international and national security experience having served on multiple diplomatic assignments abroad. Delgado began his career in public service as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1995 to 2005 and is a decorated combat veteran. Delgado received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and M.S. from Boston University.
