Reynel “Mito” Delvalle, 36, of Camden, was sentenced to 14 years in state prison, including nearly 12 years of parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act, by Superior Court Judge Irvin J. Snyder in Camden. He pleaded guilty on Dec. 5, 2012, to first-degree racketeering. In pleading guilty, Delvalle admitted that he distributed large quantities of heroin in Camden, supplying heroin to a number of dealers who worked under him. He further admitted that on separate occasions in May 2010, he sold an M-1 assault rifle and approximately 150 grams of heroin to an undercover officer.
Deputy Attorney General Kristen Harberg prosecuted the case and handled the sentencing for the Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau.
“This defendant was selling both narcotics and guns – the key catalysts driving the violence in Camden,” said Attorney General Chiesa. “We’ll continue to lead multi-agency investigations like Operation Jumpstart in order to take aim at the drug dealers and gun traffickers most responsible for the violence in our urban centers in New Jersey.”
“By pursuing an intelligence-driven investigative approach, we continue to investigate and dismantle drug networks that terrorize urban neighborhoods in New Jersey,” said Director Elie Honig of the Division of Criminal Justice. “We will continue to work across all levels of law enforcement to maximize our ability to combat dangerous drug trafficking networks.”
Delvalle was one of 28 defendants indicted in December 2011 by the Division of Criminal Justice in Operation Jumpstart, a cooperative investigation conducted by the New Jersey State Police, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey Division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and other members of the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Joint Camden Task Force, including the Camden City Police Department, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Cherry Hill Police Department, Evesham Police Department, Woodbury Police Department, and Air National Guard.
