ALERT for Hyundai and Kia Owners:ย
A nationwide trend has started impacting New Jersey in recent months, where thieves are targeting Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to a viral social media challenge that provides step-by-step instructions for thieves looking to capitalize on their anti-theft vulnerabilities. The target of these thefts are Hyundai and Kia vehicles lacking push-button ignitions and immobilizing anti-theft devices.
Approximately 540,000 Hyundais and Kias are currently registered in New Jersey, and approximately 143,000 of them are affected by the security vulnerabilities.
Owners of eligible vehicles are encouraged to contact Hyundai toll-free at 800-633-5151 or Kia toll-free at 800-333-4542 for information on the FREE technology fix.
