In 2020, the New Jersey legislature passed a law requiring the Attorney General to “establish a program to collect, record, and analyze data regarding defendants in this State’s criminal justice system” (N.J.S.A. 52:17B-111.1), with an enumerated list of required fields in the statute. The Criminal Justice Data Dashboard provides readily available, easily queried data for a wide range of policy evaluation applications and responses to data requests in step toward compliance with this legislation. This initial release includes currently available data elements. As such, the dashboard remains in active development and will be refreshed with updated data and data elements periodically.
