Operation Helping Hand: Understanding and Addressing Addiction

Felix Pacheco, retired Captain of Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, has been a dedicated member of the NJ CARES team since 2020. In his role as the Peer to Peer Learning Coordinator for the Operation Helping Hand program, he trains first responders and community stakeholders on understanding and addressing addiction, including de-escalation techniques and best practices for linkage to care. He also provides ongoing assistance to law enforcement agencies who are running Operation Helping Hand programs. Felix is committed to ensuring that law enforcement have the proper tools needed to be the avenue by which individuals suffering from addiction enter treatment or recovery services

Rutgers Interdisciplinary Opioid Trainers (RIOT)

Rutgers University has created the Rutgers Interdisciplinary Opioid Trainers (RIOT) program, whereby graduate students at Rutgers University are providing a free 1-hour training to community members to educate them about the opioid epidemic in NJ, how to manage an overdose, and Medication Assisted Treatment.
